Historical Stitches
How do you hang your cross stitch pieces? In groups or just scatter them about? I had a dream last night about a wall in our living covered with lovely pieces of stitching! This was definitely a special wall and held many reproduction pieces. What a lovely wall it was! And one that I am now itching to work on and make it a reality! Another project for 2008! LOL!
I love historical needlecraft arts. Whether if be reproduction cross stitch samplers or historical quilts. I love to study the work and read about the people who made the item. What was their motivation? How long did it take for them to complete it? I want to hear (or read) the stories that make these item personal.
To my readers, both new and old, thank you for stopping by! My blog is the backdoor of my soul. And to quote an old saying "backdoor guests are best"!

Sherry, I just love reading your posts ~ they are like reading about myself! I've been on a quest for a sampler wall (of mainly reproductions), but it's slow going. Right now mine are scattered about & a lot are in other people's homes! LOL. What an inspiring dream to have to keep stitching!
I've given most of my bigger pieces away, so "all" I have hung up is really either on my wall of smalls or in Max's room.
Mine are primarily scattered around, but I do have visions (or is it delusions???) of walls full of my stitching. Maybe someday :)
I dream of such a wall too - and did start one! I will try to get a photo. It is two Just Nan's, DD's Kingdom Sampler and LD's Paradigm Lost... not historical samplers, but still samplers - LOL!
The few things that I have kept are scattered about. But the plan is to gather them together on the stair wall, at some point in the future.
