Two posts in one day! Oh my!
I was asked to explain more about the Mother's Tree. This a family history tree of women on your maternal side. No siblings, aunts or cousins. You, your mother, her mother and so on. And only the women. No sons, brothers, ect. You could alter it if you wanted to though. Instead of trying to make a long, involved and confusing explanation, I have posted a picture of the chart by Lavender and Lace. I hope this helps to clear up any questions about it.
I just noticed that the picture (previous post) of the Mother's Tree gives away my age! Oh me, oh my, oh you, whatever shall I do? lol. Anyone out there remember that song? Leave me a comment with the name of the song and I will draw from all the correct answers for a chance at winning Be You To Others Sampler by Hillside Sampling (shown below). It has never been used. The contest closes at 6pm EDT September 21 and the winner will be announced on my blog on September 23rd. Be sure to include your email address so I can contact you should you win.
Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for your explanation. I think I would like to stitch this now that I totally understand the sequence.

This is a lovely sampler...I would love a chance to win! Thanks! The Mother's Tree is such a special piece. I wonder how far back I could go with this....
Oh, man! I have to confess, I looked up the lyrics, so that is not fair..I did used to put my chewing gum on the bedpost overnight. Gross. LOL! Beautiful sampler. Have you stitched it?
I actually got to see that Mother's Tree stitched just this past week..it is absolutely a beautiful piece.
I knew I'd heard it (I love older songs!) but I did have to look up the get the title right (I'm awful with song titles). So does that count or not?
It's a lovely sampler, btw. I thought of purchasing it when I saw it, but I figured that after my great-grandmother, there's gonna be an awful lot of guessing going on. LOL.
I know this: Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight. I would love a chance to win the chart.

Is it Lonnie Donegan and his skiffle group? I would love to win that chart. x
Is it A.Franklin's - I'm a Fool For You Baby!!? I love the sampler and would LOVE a chance to win as it's on my list of acquiring soon! I have a friend at the sampler guild I attend who is stitching this. It's quite beautiful!
I love the Mother Sampler and think it's beautiful and love the thought. I will have to check with my mom to see how far back she would remember - on my dad's side I have the old family bible with dates and names several generations back but nothing like that for my mom's side that I know of...can't wait to see how you progress on this one!
I am so glad to hear that your doctor appointment checked out okay. I was a little concerned...have a great week other sherry spelled the same! sherry :o)
The Mother's Tree is going to be fantastic! Of course, my mother's side of the family is the one with the hugely long last names. When I use my mother's maiden name as a security question, I always get the 'you can't have made that up!' comments. LOL
Love your Marianne, too!
I had not seen the Mother's Sampler before. I love it! I need to have it. By the way, 1953 was a very good year to be born.
