Happy New Year !

Happy New Year! May 2010 bring lots of happiness, plenty of good health and loads of good fortune to one and all.

Here is my most recent progress photo of MHIBIG. I have done some more stitching on it since this picture so there is really more done than this.

Will this be the year of Hawk Run Hollow at our house? I have all 3 of my HRH patterns kitted up and ready to go. Since I consider myself a slow stitcher compared to so many others who seem to wield the needle faster than a speeding bullet, it may take me 5 years to finish all these up! I am giving myself that long because if I should finish them up sooner, I will be surprised and very pleased! Besides I know I will want to work on other designs along the way as well as these.

Yesterday I sat down with my 3 boxes of kitted up designs and made a list of the ones I would like to see finished this year. I would post the list here but I'm afraid I would be very embarrassed next December to see how little was actually achieved or I could be surprised at how much I actually did get done! Sort of a glass half full - glass half empty situation. I will just stitch as I can, when I can and enjoy it all.

We will be having our traditional southern New Year's meal today. We always have some type of pork (usually a pork roast) which symbolizes living high on the hog, Black Eyed Peas for luck, Collard Greens for wealth, Cornbread for humility and Tea for health. I will probably fix up a cobbler just because we're southern! LOL.

When we put away what few decorations we had displayed, we decided to downsize our Christmas inventory and put it all in one place. We really don’t put out very much anymore and I made a list of what I wanted to keep and use from now on. One place makes it all much easier to get to. It didn’t appear as though we had downsized as much as I had planned because the closet was really crammed full. Of course, I had to share it with Harold and some of his things plus I guess a lot of what we kept was just big and took up a lot of space. Wreaths, outdoor garlands and lights.

Once again, thanks for stopping by. Don't forget to leave a post on the December 28th post if you are interested in the giveaway. Happy New Year to everyone.

You're really getting there with your WIP! I love it so much! As for lists of what I want to stitch -- well, I have a list that's headed 2009 projects. I think I'm going to have to change it to projects and forget about the date! lol! It just keeps getting longer and longer!

We always make Chinese dumplings on New Years from scratch -- my old family tradition. So that will take up most of the day -- but boy, will it be yummy! :D

I hope you have a wonderful, happy, healthy New Year!

I love how your WIP is progressing. The colors and design are really pretty. I'm going to make a note of this chart because I really like it.

I'm like you and don't think that I'm going to make any goals for this year. I think that I did that last year and failed at every turn.

Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year!

I love your sampler. Nice progress on it.
Why not post a list of all your kitted projects on your blog? I love making these lists and will also post mine this year. It's a challenge and it might be fun.
Happy New Year!

Sherry, that is beautiful!! I like your idea with the lists of WIPs and what you'd like to stitch. I usually don't stick to a list only because I seem to change my mind the minute I finish the list. Instead, I just write out lists to get them out of my mind, and then a few months later, I might come across the list and be able to mark off one or two things.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2010.

Your WIP is looking good! It's getting close :)
And I hope to finish the village of HRH this year, I have the perfect place to hang it. I WILL get it done (I hope)

Happy New Year Sherry! I wish you and yours all the blessings, health and happiness you can stand!

The WIP is looking awesome! I don't keep a list. I'd only end up depressing myself!

Have a wonderful 2010!

Happy New Year, Sherry. I truly hope this year is a wonderful one for you. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. I found your southern dinner and the reasons behind it very interesting. I've never had either black eyed peas or collard greens, but if they bring luck and wealth, I'll have to give them a try.

Happy New Year Sherry. Your stitching is coming along beautifully - it is such a lovely piece. I'm with you on the list - I get distracted too easily and stray from my goals when it comes to stitching.

Your sampler looks lovely!
I agree with you on downsizing Christmas stuff but we didn't this year, maybe next but we do put it all in one place. We have an empty closet now and put it there vs. the attic where the extreme weather conditions affected some of my village stuff this past year.
I ate plenty of greens this year! Crossing my fingers!
