Brrrrrrr! It's Cold Outside!

The temps are in the teens! I'll just stay indoors, thank you very much!

After having Harold home for 2 weeks over the holidays, the house feels empty. I miss him. I really do enjoy having him around. Sometimes we work on our "to do" list which we managed to knock a few items off of, we go out or we just sit around watching old movies and other shows on TV. New Years Eve he wanted to watch a Three Stooges marathon. I never liked the Stooges but this time I couldn't help but laugh some with him.

On Monday, I went to pick out my new glasses! Finally. I have known I needed a stronger prescription and the doctor even agreed by writing one up. I was holding back because of the frames. I like my current frames but have used and reused them to the point that they are on their last go round. The type of frame I wear hasn't been in style for a while. I ended up picking out 4 frames then letting the assistant help me choose by telling me which ones she liked best on me (since I can't see worth a hoot without my glasses). I should have my new glasses in about a week. They will definitely be a big change compared to what I am wearing now and since my eyes are so bad on their own, I really won't know for sure how I like them on me until I pick them up! *fingers crossed*

On a fun note, one of my many challenge layouts from December was a winner over at Category Stories! How neat is that! Also, I thought I would share another corn husk doll with you. This one is a baker. I picked her out of my aunt's collection since I enjoy baking (when I have all the ingredients and no one bothers me).

How many of you are still using stitching rotations? I love the idea but I can never hold myself to them. *big sigh* I love to know how other people stitch, their routines, their favorite fabrics, colors, designers and more. I took some time out to go through my fabric stash and see what might be needed. I hate to run low and running out is just the worst!

Next time, I will post a progress update on MHIBIG. It's coming right along. Five colors in the border and I am almost finished with 1 of them. Till then, may you have simple days and an uncluttered heart! Thanks for stopping by!

I hate the cold, don't you? As for glasses, I'm the same way -- blind as a bat! I hate not knowing what my glasses will actually look like till I put them on when I get them! lol! When I wore contacts I would wear them so I could at least see the frames I was picking out on me. But of course that didn't give me any idea of the effect the lenses in the frames would have. You know what I'm talking about! :D

Congrats on winning with one of your scrapbook pages -- pretty cool stuff!

My DH went back to work after over 2 weeks of vacation too. I hate to say it, but I'm happy having the house to myself again -- until the son comes home from school that is. Back to routine!

School was canceled here last night for today before the snow and even started as the temps are to drop to below zero with severe wind chill. The snow has started but no wind yet.

I need to get in to see the eye dr. I had lasik done years and years ago and haven't been to the eye doctor since. Vision is really getting bad now so I guess I'm going to have to suck it up and go. Hoe you like the new glasses when you get them.

Congrats on a prize winning page!

Yes it is cold. But it is the wind that gets to me.

Congrats on the win!

As for rotations...... I usually do 2 days on one project, 2 on another and 2 on a third. Then Sunday is a do whatever day. Sometimes I choose one of the three and sometimes I start something new. :)

Of couse as soon as exchanges get closer to their due dates the rotation goes out the window. :) Sigh.

Good luck with yours.

The little corn husk dolls are just so sweet.

Oh, I can't see without my contacts! I finally bought new glasses last year (after having the same pair for 12+ yrs). I typically just wear my contacts from morning 'til bedtime. But I love my new glasses so much that I will occassionally wear them.

Congrats on winning - your layouts were just wonderful and deserve to win!

Enjoy your day

I should get in to the optometrist soon for a check up. It's been a couple (three or four?) years and I think my prescription needs to be tweaked. But really I just want some new frames, lol!

No rotations for me. Whatever grabs my attention on a particular day is what I pick up. If there is a deadline looming tho, I do try to give that project the time it needs to be finished.

It's cold here in my part of the UK too, we are having a propper winter for onece, lol, snow yesterday, more predicted tonight with temps not above freezing, i must admit i love it!!

I too like the idea of a stitching rotation and have ment to start one but in the end i think that i would much prefer to go with what i feel like at the time.

My OH went back to work on Monday (he's away all week)and i breathed a sigh of relief, lol, 12 days with him constantly here was more than enough for me, lol, much prefer the house and evenings to myselfl!

Congrats on your winning scrap book page :-)

Keep warm..Maggie x

Happy New Year, Sherry! I'm so far behind in reading my favorite blogs. And everyone is, as usual, leaving me in the dust with new projects. Congrats on your win!Love the little cornhusk doll. As for rotations...I'm not very good at that, though I have tried. Stay warm! We are quite buried with snow, too, here in the heartland.

I'm as blind as a bat without my contacts. I like my glasses, but since there's no peripheral vision when I wear them I usually don't.
As for rotating, I try, but generally fail.

I know that I now need glasses. Yes at 44 my eyes say please get them soon. I work with a rotation and I can stick to it as long as I don't sign up for exchanges and no more than 1 RR at a time. As for fabrics, I was on 2 Silweavers clubs for a year. I did 2 and then 6 months later switched them to a different 2 sets. So I am set for quite a while. I do notice that I need more of the browns and earthtones though.

Rotation wise last year i was sticking to a three day at a time for three or four pieces which worked well but at the moment i am just concentrating on working between two pieces as got a couple of deadlines.

hope you like your new glasses, show us a pic once you pick them up please

Can't wait to see your new glasses!
Isn't it frustrating? I went to the eye doc 2 years ago to get a good exam and they basically said I needed reading glasses. I tried on many frames and didn't like any on me but I just finally gave up and just been using Walmart reader glasses when I need it.
However, lately I've noticed I need another exam. One eye they told me is worse than the other so therefore I may be picking out some frames myself soon. I think I'm going to get me some Sarah Palin frames.....seriously. I think they would look best with my fair skin and dark hair. We'll see.
Hope you are having a fun day!
I'm hibernating this week. Eating chex mix and sipping a drink or two for happy hour........shame on me.
LOL

Congratulations on the layout being chosen! YGG!

I don't stitch in a rotation. I tried it but it didn't work. Basically I have three or four projects that I am working on & switch between them, working on whatever I want to have finished the most. It gives me a little leeway to work on other things while not being bored, yet focus on one thing if I want.
