Can you believe that January is almost over? I can't say that I was sad
to see 2013 leave! It definitely wasn't one of best years (health wise) for
me. Things are beginning to level off a bit and move in the right direction. I
have my good days and I have my bad days like everyone else. As the saying
goes "what doesn't kill us, makes us
stronger"!
Now that the holidays are over, my sights have turned to Spring and
Summer which will be arriving soon! Also DSL will be making a return in several
months making the days longer and giving me more time to enjoy my backyard with
nesting birds and beautiful flowers! I always enjoy a
good snow at least once a year. The kind that falls so thick and heavy you can
barely see your hand in front of your face and the snow flakes are so big and
wet, you just want to stand outside and catch them with your tongue. But -- we
have not had any snow for several years and without the snow, the super cold
temperatures just aren't worth it so I say "No snow? Bring on Spring!". I have
even picked out several birdhouses and plants I would like to get for the yard
this
year.
I worked on Mary's Sampler earlier in the month and got frustrated
because I just did not make as much progress on it as I had originally thought I
would because of so many awful hand cramps so I put it aside for now and picked
up The Apostle's Creed to work on some more. I haven't worked on this one since
November when I took it with me to work on during my treatments each week. I
really want to get this one finished up in time for the framing sale at my LNS.
Maybe the hand cramps will die down once the awful cold dry weather moves on. I
will share some stitching pictures next
time!
I decided that I will focus on my
current stash for stitching this year. Oh, I know I will buy a few charts here
and there. I signed up for the new Loose Feathers designs last year and am still
receiving them but I have so many great designs in my stash, it seems a shame to
just let them sit. I found the perfect challenge for me (Stitching from Stash)
but sign ups were closed (just my lazy luck) so this will be my "Blast from the
Past" year! Some may be designs that have been in my stash for years while
others have only been there for a few months. As long as it was added to my
stash before January 1, 2014 it will qualify! I will follow the same basic rules
that the SFS challenge is using and allow myself no more than $25 a month for
supplies and
charts. I made my list and am even ready to
start several others along with my currents WIPs. Could this be a more than one
project at a time year for me? I would share my list but I think I will just
wait and do that as I begin to work on each one. After all, life
happens!
My spending for January includes
December's Loose Feather (which I forgot to pick up last month) chart and
January's Loose Feather chart coming to a total of $18.79..
Thanks so much for stopping by! I
always enjoy your visits. Until next time, may you have simple days and an
uncluttered heart.

Ha! I am doing Blast from the Past too! ;)
We have plenty of snow to spare if you would like some.=)
Yay! Glad you are joining us SFS'ers! I look forward to seeing your progress!
Lovely post. Loved seeing the flowers. I hadnt realised January was nearly over ;-(
I am doing a similar thing, but unofficially. Happy stitching!
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger ... so very true! Glad to hear things are leveling off & moving in the right direction for you!
Hope your 2014 is better for you than 2013 was. stitching from stash is a good idea, but I doubt I will manage it. I'm really bad at such things!
Official or unofficial member of SFS doesn't matter, you can follow the rules anyway. And you have been doing great this month. I also consider my stash as a treasure box. Once you open the lid you find so many wonderful and precious things in it that you needn't buy anything new.
I hope that the cramps in your hand will soon become better.
I am a 'secret' Stitch from Stash-er, because I also missed the deadline! But I am sticking to it so far... heheheh! May warm weather come your way, to help you stitch more! Hugs!
